Organisers of the Australian Masters have banned spectators from bringing cameras and mobile phones to prevent a repeat of the crowd distractions which infuriated Tiger Woods in Shanghai last week.

Woods hasn’t been on Australian shores for the last 11 years and organisers will leave nothing to chance for this big event. 25 000 Tickets were available for each day and were all sold out early last month. This will be by far the biggest tournament in Australia for years  and is part of Woods’ campaign to grow golf around the world before the 2016 Olympics.

Woods’ has reportedly been paid 3 million dollars to play in this European Tour co-sanctioned event and organisers are expecting record crowds at the Kingston Heath sandbelt course. Security has been heavily beefed up for this reason and to avoid incidents like at last week’s HSBC Championship in Shanghai.
